” SECRET 7″ IS AN ANNUAL EVENT THAT COMBINES MUSIC AND ART FOR A GOOD CAUSE. We take 7 tracks from 7 of the best-known musicians around and press each one 100 times to 7″ vinyl. We then invite creatives from around the world to interpret the tracks in their own style, resulting in a one-of-a-kind sleeve for every 7″. The creatives are made up of famous names through to gems we unearth through artwork submitted to us here on our website. ” Fundings raised by the sleeves’ sale are donated to charity.
2014’s good cause was War Child. War Child International exists to create the conditions that will fulfill the protection, development and survival rights for children and young people who are living with or recovering from the effects of armed conflict.
For SECRET 7″ 2014 MHOX was selected to design one of the sleeves of Massive Attack‘s Karmacoma. To interpretate this track, we decided to explore the morphologies of the human back, seen as a territory where the balance of skin, muscles and bones offers a variety of aesthetic opportunities.
The sleeve was on sale on Record Store Day (April 19th, 2014), Downstairs at Mother in London.
